these three cups are small cups made of vashon white clay and cut in a way to give them and ocean feeling, they are glazed with real and green to create more of an ocean feeling. I learned how to make a better cup on the wheel. The art element in this project is texture because of the wave like carvings throughout all the pieces. The design element is pattern because of the organized randomness of the carvings. I really liked these ocean themed cups.
aka my TeapotThis is a tall teapot with a teal glaze, black and yellow accents, and magenta roses on the body. I learned how to create a teapot which I have never done before. The art element for this project would have to be color, the colors all contrast really well against each other which makes everything stand out. The design element in this piece is pattern because I included many patterns into the design of the piece to make it look whole and perfect. Though its not the best teapot in the world im pretty proud of it.
This projects is a 8" wide 4" tall Pot with two handles and a lid with vents in it, it was made out of sea mix clay. Unlike a lot of my projects this piece is not as heavy as the rest, still heavy, but not as heavy, which is something I was and am currently working on. The art element for this project would have to be space, its a simple project and though its not perfect the spacing is simple and neat. The design element is balance, everything is in the right spot and looks even and smooth. I really like this project and plan to use it as a functional object.
This is a rustic looking bottle made from red clay and carved with cracks to make it look ancient. When I made this project I made some mistakes, one of them was making the base and walls to thick, since then I have been watching more closely at how thick my walls are on all my projects. The art design in this project is texture, because of the many cracks and scrapes that add to the design of the piece. The design element would have to be pattern and that there is no pattern, the piece is raw and organic, misshapen in some spots. Besides how big it is, I really like this project because I has a very ancient feeling and it is also very organic, which is something I like to focus on.
Obviously these are two bowls thrown on a pottery wheel, they have a curved shape and one is bigger than the other, they have blue-green-orange-teal drips down the exterior and interior of both projects. From this project I learned how to better glaze projects and that the glaze changes everyday. The art element of these pieces is color because there is many different colors wound together thought the pieces. The design element would be contrast because the drips contrast with the blank non-glazed sides of each bowl. These aren't my favorite pieces but they achieved a nice contrast with the design of the pieces.
